Memorial Day

Memorial Day 2009. We went up to Logan to spend the holiday with my mom and also visit my dad's grave. Drew was so cute playing with his flag.
I know I am going to sound so cliche, but babies grow up too fast. I remember the first couple of months couldn't go by fast enough (but a lot of that was due to my PPD), and now I look back and think, "where has this last year gone?" The other night I was cuddling and nursing Drew before bedtime and leaned down to kiss his head and smell him. He smelled like a little boy. When did my little baby stop smelling like a baby and start smelling like a little boy? It's exciting to see him grow up and learn new things, but at the same time it breaks my heart. He will always be my little baby to me. How did I get so lucky to be this little boy's mom? Sometimes I feel so inadequate when I think that I'm in charge of shaping and molding and teaching this little person. What a huge responsibility -- but also, what a rewarding calling.

Surgery Day

May 18th. Ignorance is bliss!! The poor little buddy was having so much fun playing in the waiting room. Little did he know he was going to be cut open soon. We were at Primary Children's in Salt Lake City. The doctors and nurses were fabulous.

Drew probably wouldn't appreciate me blabbing what kind of surgery he had when he's a teenager. Let's just say he now has two peas in the pod!!

The surgery couldn't have gone smoother. Drew did very well with the anesthesia and his recovery was amazing. He was up and running that very same day. It is now 2 weeks post surgery and everything is healing up great. Kids are so resilient.

Cuddling with mommy post-op.

"our house is a very very very fine house"

We painted our shutters and railing black. They were white before. We think it makes it "pop." Yahoo for cheap makeovers!!

One Year Old!!

Drew turned one on May 6, 2009. He had a "Cars" themed birthday and I experimented with my first birthday cake! I used oreos for the wheels and headlights.

He was a little confused that I was letting him dig into his own cake... and then...

YUM!!!

Yay! forward facing carseats are the best!!
